Honey Garlic Spareribs

This is a really good glaze for spareribs and probably chicken as well. I coated the meat in it, then I cooked it so we could use it over the rice. Delicious!

Ingredients
4 pounds pork spareribs
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon garlic salt (optional)

Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Slice the ribs into individual pieces. In a large bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic and brown sugar. Stir until honey and sugar are completely dissolved, then stir in the baking soda. The mixture will begin to foam. Transfer ribs to the bowl, and turn to coat.
Cover a cookie sheet with foil, and arrange the ribs meat side up on the sheet. Pour excess sauce over all, and sprinkle with the garlic salt.
Bake for 1 hour, turning every 20 minutes.

S'Mores Cookies

This is really Angela's recipe. She made them last night while the girls were here sewing cute bags. The boys were in the other room watching "The Office." These are very yummy--taste like S'Mores without the worry of broken graham crackers and burned marshmallows. And you don't even have to light a fire.

3/4 cup butter — softened
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate
1 cup (more or less) of marshmallows (not large style)
2 Hershey Bars, broken into pieces

Beat together butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Blend in egg and vanilla. Add combined flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking soda and salt. Mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and (if using) other stuff.
Drop dough by heaping tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets about 3 inches apart.
Bake in pre-heated oven 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 8 minutes. Remove and quickly press marshmallows and chocolate into cookies. Return to oven and cook until done (about 3 or 4 more minutes)
Makes about 3 dozen

Kathy Diamond's Oven Stew

I remember smelling this cooking when I would pick Michele/Emily up from piano lessons. Yummy!! And easy!!

3 lbs beef chunks
6 TBLSP flour
Put the flour in a Ziploc bag and toss it with the meat until coated.

3 cups potatoes, cubed
2 cups carrots, sliced
2 cups celery, sliced
2 large onions, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 cups water
1 can tomato sauce
1 1/2 tsp Worchestershire Sauce
2 TBLSP beef bouillion
2 TBLSP brown sugar
Salt and Pepper
Cook in covered pan at 380 for 2 hours. Add frozen peas last 5 minutes. Could be done in crockpot on low all day.

Spaghetti Sausage

Jeannena makes a recipe like this one, and Angela loves it!!

16 oz package spaghetti--cooked and drained
6 TBLSP olive oil
Polska Kilbasa, cut in bite-size pieces
red bell pepper, diced
medium onion, cut in wedges
2 or 3 small zucchini, cut in strips
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 tsp chicken bouillion
2 tsp basil leaves
2 tsp salt
2 dashes cayenne pepper

Stir fry all ingredients, then steam until done. Serve over spaghetti--or mix together.

Fast and easy!!

Mazettia

This is Grandmother's recipe. It makes a lot! So you can either have people over, take part of it to someone, or you could probably freeze half of it for a freezer meal.

3/4 c chopped celery
1/4 c butter
1 c minced onion
3/4 c minced green pepper
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork (I have used sausage before)
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 can mushrooms
2 cans tomato soup
12 oz pkg noodles (6 cups)
Parmesan cheese

Saute celery, onion, pepper in butter. Add beef and pork. Cook until light brown. Combine all ingredients, except noodles and cheese. Cook noodles and drain. Pour sauce over noodles and mix. Top with cheese. Cook uncovered for 15 minutes at 400. Then cover and cook for 1 hour.

Jo's Washday Chicken

Jo and Lisa were sisters that lived in Sunset Hills Ward back in the old days. I cannot remember their last names. This is so easy--but really good!

1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
1 cup uncooked rice (not Minute Rice)
1 cut-up fryer or 3-4 chicken breasts
1/2 pkg Lipton Dry Onion Soup mix (of course, Michele will omit this)

Combine soups and rice in large casserole. Set chicken pieces on top. Salt and pepper the chicken. Sprinkle with soup mix. Bake at 350 for 2 hrs.

Chicken Cacciatori

3-4 chicken breats, whole chicken, or chicken pieces that you like.
1 thinly sliced onion
1 can stewed tomoates (Italian Style)
1 can mushrooms
Bake at 325 for 2 hours or in crockpot for 4-6 hours until very tender

This can be served over noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Really easy, but very good.
